- The horse shown on the central base was never actually installed; it was only one of the proposed projects of the time.
- Informally known as El Zócalo, it is the main square of Mexico City. Together with the surrounding streets, it occupies an almost rectangular area of approximately 46,800 m².
- It was named in honor of the Constitution of Cádiz, promulgated in 1812. It is the second‑largest square in the world and the largest among Spanish‑speaking countries.
